Yoga Shalla by Shani Attias, Tzahala, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel

Everything You Need to Know

This workshop is inspired by teachings of  Judith Hanson Lasater , author of ''What we say matters'', and by Marshall Bertram Rosenberg

who founded the Center for Nonviolent Communication.

The magnitude of the shape is not the magic, says Lizzie lasater.

Asana is not about putting yourself into a perfect shape.

Yoga asana is about moving towards shapes, into shapes that feel good, connecting breath and attention and sensations of the present moment.

The shape is not the magic in asana practice.

This workshop will offer insight into and focus on what we need to practice all day long with clarity and compassion.

This type of practice will not only help us personally, but will help us to create the kind of world we want to live in, and to leave to our children and others who follow us.

“What I want in my life is compassion, a flow between myself and others based on a mutual giving from the heart.” ― Marshall B. Rosenberg, Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life

Will begin with a short meditation followed by an active asana practice.

In our highly intellectual lives, we need to regularly drop deeply down into the embodied and intuitive wisdom of the body.

As my teache, Judith Hanson Lasater says, “your body is smarter than you are”, meaning that your body knows how to move, how to heal itself, and how to serve your will. It can sustain many functions at the same time so that our brain is free for thinking, planning, creating, and dreaming.

Active asana practice reminds us to listen to the brilliant languages this miraculous body uses to communicate with our consciousness:

feelings, sensations, pleasure, discomfort, ease, happiness, sadness, joy, and others.

We will also dscuss the ways we talk to ourselves and others and how that shapes our internal and external worlds.

The center of this workshop will be around empathy

What is empathy exactly?

What does it sound like in our heads when we are deeply empathetic to ourselves?

What does it sound like when we are deeply empathic to others?

Together we will di mystify what we think the body should do in certain yoga postures and let go of what no longer servs me.

The emphasis is on functional component.

Together we will experiment beyond the physical element, with deep exploration, figuring out while becoming more control of your vehicle.

We are going to witness on our body how different alignment feel & being translated in our system.

We need to cultivate daily life nuances, understanding the anatomical language

Our final theme will be a discussion of “Rest” while practicing restorative yoga and pranayama.

One way we can reduce the anxiety and fatigue that paradoxically keeps us from resting deeply is to understand the profound power of letting go. This includes learning the importance of letting go into whatever our state is right now so that we learn to choose “what is” right now instead of our expectations of “what should be”.

''We practice yoga not to be good at yoga but to be present, connecting to our true identity, to be free of judgement. To create self-reflection and to learn to forgive ourselves.''

Judith Hanson Lasater
